About ELITE

BCS ELITE (Effective Leadership in IT) is an official Membership Group within BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. It represents its members’ interests and concerns at the highest levels within BCS and beyond.

ELITE is for those who have made distinguished, influential contributions to IT leadership. Our regular ELITE events provide a pressure-free, non-commercial setting for networking, problem solving and discussion. By joining, you’re contributing to keeping ELITE as the foremost forum for IT leaders. As it’s you, not your role, that determines your ability to lead, your membership can support you throughout your career and beyond.

ELITE is unique:

• membership is for the person, not the role, title or industry sector, and continues through career changes and breaks, and into retirement;
• there’s no fee to join and no regular subscriptions, whether paid by the individual or the employer;
• members do not need to work for organisations or have budgets above a minimum size; and
• members can attend as many (or as few) meetings a year as they wish.

As a consequence ELITE events can be truly impartial reflecting only the common interests of its members.

Most ELITE events are organised on a volunteer basis with charges targeting break-even. Many events are held where the premises have been made available at no charge to ELITE members so keeping costs low. ELITE events will only rarely be sponsored and then only in circumstances where its impartiality will not be compromised.

ELITE provides many opportunities to hear prominent speakers present and discuss topical subjects and issues of interest to its members and, before and afterwards, network with their peers. ELITE holds events in London and other major cities throughout the UK. Occasionally, ELITE directly emails members with announcements which the ELITE Committee believes will be of interest to members.

A volunteer committee oversees the event programme and other matters. ELITE Committee members are elected by the wider ELITE membership so all members have a say in the direction of ELITE.

Through its affiliation with BCS, ELITE maintains its independence of all suppliers. ELITE is not a forum for buying or selling IT services or products. Membership can be revoked in the event that such activities occur.
